Identification
Common Name1-18:2-2-18:1-phosphatidylcholine
ClassSmall Molecule
Description1-18:2-2-18:1-phosphatidylcholine is also known as phosphatidylcholine (1-18:2-2-18:1) or 18:2-18:1-pc. 1-18:2-2-18:1-phosphatidylcholine is practically insoluble (in water) and a moderately acidic compound (based on its pKa). 1-18:2-2-18:1-phosphatidylcholine can be found in a number of food items such as avocado, wax apple, mugwort, and kale, which makes 1-18:2-2-18:1-phosphatidylcholine a potential biomarker for the consumption of these food products. 1-18:2-2-18:1-phosphatidylcholine can be found primarily in blood, saliva, and urine, as well as throughout all human tissues. In humans, 1-18:2-2-18:1-phosphatidylcholine is involved in a couple of metabolic pathways, which include phosphatidylcholine biosynthesis PC(18:2(9Z,12Z)/18:1(9Z)) and phosphatidylethanolamine biosynthesis PE(18:2(9Z,12Z)/18:1(9Z)).
