Identification
Common NameDecanoyl-CoA (n-C10:0CoA)
ClassSmall Molecule
DescriptionDecanoyl-CoA, also known as Decanoyl-coa or Decanoyl-coa, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as 2,3,4-saturated fatty acyl coas. These are acyl-CoAs carrying a 2,3,4-saturated fatty acyl chain. Decanoyl-CoA is possibly soluble (in water) and a strong basic compound (based on its pKa). Decanoyl-CoA exists in all living organisms, ranging from bacteria to humans. Decanoyl-CoA participates in a number of enzymatic reactions, within cattle. In particular, Decanoyl-CoA and glycerol 3-phosphate can be converted into lpa(10:0/0:0); which is catalyzed by the enzyme glycerol-3-phosphate acyltransferase. In addition, Lpa(10:0/0:0) and decanoyl-CoA can be converted into PA(10:0/10:0); which is catalyzed by the enzyme 1-acyl-sn-glycerol-3-phosphate acyltransferase. In cattle, decanoyl-CoA is involved in the metabolic pathway called de novo triacylglycerol biosynthesis TG(10:0/10:0/10:0) pathway.
