| Description | Constituent of Artocarpus integrifolia fruits and Solanum tuberosum (potato)
Cycloartenol is a sterol precursor in photosynthetic organisms and plants. The biosynthesis of cycloartenol starts from the triterpenoid squalene. Its structure is also related to triterpenoid lanosterol. Cycloartenol is found in many foods, some of which are blackcurrant, sourdough, lemon, and leek. |
