Identification
Common NameAcaciabiuronic acid
ClassSmall Molecule
DescriptionAcaciabiuronic acid is found in cereals and cereal products. Probably the commonest aldobiouronic acid present as a structural unit in plant gums. It is isolated from partial acid hydrolysates from the following plants; black wattle (Acacia mollissima), Acacia senegal, Acacia pycnantha, Acacia karroo, Acacia cyanophylla, egg plum (Prunus domestica), almond (Prunus amygdalus), peach (Prunus persica), Anogeissus lattifolia (gum ghatti), Vigilia oroboides, Afraegle paniculata, Ferula and Chorisia species Also isolated from hydrolysates of maritime pine (Pinus pinaster) hemicellulose and wheat stra
